Well, here we are in 2017 which, to be honest, is looking very much like 2016 in being a challenging year but we do at last have our own phone number back.

The biggest annoyance is likely to be the forthcoming increase in Insurance Premium Tax from 10% to 12%. To be clear, neither your insurance company nor ourselves benefits in any way from this tax. On the contrary, it costs us time and money to collect, collate and forward it to HM Treasury. However, our major concern is that this unfair tax will encourage even more people not to insure their cars – adding to the estimated 1,000,000 uninsured vehicles already on UK roads – or their homes. Already some 80% of small businesses fail following a major event such as fire or flood due to a combination of inadequate insurance and failure to have a tested disaster recover plan in effect. If more cut corners on their insurance, this percentage will increase.

We are doing everything that we can to ease the burden of the increased tax but, as a business ourselves, there is only so much that we can do. Please do write to your MP about this.
