The Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has issued a warning about the fraudulent use of the details of genuine insurance brokers in order to scam members of the public. This is known as a “cloned firm” and generally operates when contacting people out of the blue, so please be especially careful if you receive a cold call. They may use the name of the genuine firm, including their FCA registration number, which is freely available for anyone to see on the FCA website and which genuine brokers, such as ourselves, have to show on headed notepaper.

In the particular case that brought this fraud to light, all of the genuine details were being used other than a gmail email account (no genuine insurance company or broker is likely to use gmail or hotmail accounts) and a .uk website.

If you have any concerns, you can check the FCA register,, to ensure that you are dealing with an authorised and regulated business. Included in this are details of how yu can make a report if you believe that you have been approached by a “cloned firm”.

Please note that we will never cold-call. We do call existing clients to assist with renewal, claims, adjustments etc. We will also call prospective clients but only when we have a firm and positive introduction.
