Cheap or good?
We use social media such as Facebook to give advice, to offer help and to refer people whom need tradespeople or professionals to people that we trust through our network of contacts.
What is worrying is the trend to ask “a cheap plumber/electrician/builder/mechanic etc.”
Really, are these people happy to settle for cheap and not very good? If you employ a cheap tradesperson, are they cheap because they cut costs – for example, with their own insurance? Do they use the right materials for the job? Do they have the necessary qualifications? We dealt with a claim a few months ago where a sub-contractor caused a flood due to faulty plumbing but he had insurance only covering the trade of carpentry.
Instead of “cheap” why not ask for “a competent tradesperson who charges a fair price for the job”?
